What are the Thirteen Orphans?

This is THE classic hand in Classic Mahjong. The Thirteen Orphans hand in classic mahjong is a limit hand that consists of one of each terminal and honor tile. The fourteenth tile can consist of any other terminal or honor tile. To qualify and hit the jackpot you need to self-draw the hand in your first go around.

In Japanese the hand is known as the Koku Shimusou!

We have now added two new rule sets: Japanese Riichi (JPBML-B) and Kansai style three player Riichi.

About Japanese Riichi: The main difference form EMA is that open tanyao is allowed (no red fives).

About Kansai style three player Riichi rules: Pong of North is always a yaku and characters 2-8 are not in play.

We have also added a few more features in the client:
- Tile size increase for three player tables
- Players who have registered for a freeroll but are not online when it starts will be kicked from the tournament
- New keyboard shortcuts: [space] discards the last dealt tile, [space] selects pong and kong in dialogs where only these are offered [space] selects mahjong is this is offered, [escape] declines an offered meld
- New mouse shortcut: clicking anywhere outside your hand discards the last dealt tile
- New options: auto-replace bonus tiles at start of MCR game
- "Auto-pass" and "Alternative View" options renamed
